Where is vCenter Converter?!

A couple of days ago, the IT community was wondering where vCenter Converter is. It is not available to download anymore on the VMware website.

But VMware explained it with the statement on February 2nd:

Source: vmware.com

In fact, This solution wasn’t getting any updates since 2018. even if it is still strong and reliable. but it is obvious now it is time to get a new fresh version as VMware claimed.

vCenter Converter is still available to download via 3rd party download sites.

So, what’s next?

If you are looking for an alternative solution for P2V, my suggestions – as per my previous experience with – is one of the two solutions:

1- Veeam Agent

Veeam Agent for Windows/Linus is commonly used for backing physical machines/endpoints up. but a few years ago, when I was exploring it. I found this valuable discussion. And it was tested and confirmed as an official statement by one of my friends who work at Veeam.

So, obviously, you can use Veeam Agent as a replacement for P2V process.

2- StarWind

I tried StarWind once before in trial to migrate VM files from Hyper-V to VMware vSphere. It was super easy indeed. Now you can work with it also for P2V. See more information from here.

Finally, I hope VMware gets a new release of vCenter Converter soon. I believe it will be packed up with new features rather than conversion. For me, I have a huge history with this solution, and saved me and my time a lot.
