It is definitely Nutanix time
Throughout the past years, Nutanix made its name in the world of hyper-converged infrastructure, hypervisor, and multi-cloud.
This year was a big leap to Nutanix with its prestigious .NEXT conference that was held between 21 and 23 May 2024 at Fira Gran Via – Barcelona, Spain. (very clever 🙂 )
The expectations were high, and Nutanix made some great announcements. Such as:
- Nutanix + DELL (NXRail): The Original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement with Dell is to offer a new family of converged infrastructure appliances based on Nutanix web-scale technology. The combination of Nutanix’s groundbreaking software running on Dell’s industry-leading servers delivers a flexible, scale-out platform that brings IT simplicity to modern data centers. The Nutanix and Dell collaboration is designed from the ground up to deliver innovative web-scale technology to enterprises of any size. The agreement also includes joint sales, marketing, support, and service investments, as well as alignment of product roadmaps.
The new Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances will be built with Nutanix software running on Dell PowerEdge servers and will be available in multiple variants to meet a wide range of price and performance options. The appliances will deliver high-performance converged infrastructure ideal for powering a broad spectrum of popular enterprise use cases, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), virtualized business applications, multi-hypervisor environments, and more. Nutanix’s web-scale software runs on all popular virtualization hypervisors, including VMware vSphere™, Microsoft Hyper-V™, and open-source KVM, and is uniquely able to span multiple hypervisors in the same environment. The Dell XC Series appliances are scheduled for availability in the fourth quarter of this year and will be sold by Dell sales teams and channel partners worldwide. Read more about this partnership. - Nutanix Central: Nutanix Central is a unified cloud console to view and manage all Nutanix services deployed either On-premises or on Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2). It provides global visibility and management across hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure and makes it easier for you to establish an enterprise cloud governance framework. It is now Generally Available (GA). Read more.
- Project Beacon. introducing new Kubernetes Management (NKP) and Infrastructure Data Services (AOS on containers for portability) to the Nutanix “Build Once, Run Anywhere” project. Project Beacon is a multi-year effort by Nutanix to deliver a portfolio of data-centric Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)-level services available natively anywhere – including on Nutanix and hyper scaler infrastructure. With a vision of decoupling the application and its data from the underlying infrastructure, Project Beacon aims to enable developers to build applications once and run them anywhere.
This includes delivering these IaaS and PaaS data services as fully managed services – meaning Nutanix, not the customer, is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and securing the services – running on the customer’s choice of Nutanix Cloud Platform, Amazon EC2, and/or Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines. Happy 10th birthday, AHV
This year marked the 10th for the age of AHV, when Nutanix initiated the development of an enterprise hypervisor called ACROPOLIS.
Nutanix AHV is an enterprise-ready hypervisor included at no additional cost with every Nutanix node. As a hypervisor designed for HCI and the Enterprise Cloud, AHV provides the option to lower software licensing costs without compromising on features and functionality.
